Universal Credit Statement: How to Download It, What Time It Shows and What to Do If It’s Missing
A Universal Credit statement (UC statement) shows how your payment was worked out for one assessment period. To find it, sign in to your online account and open Payments.
You can save a statement as a PDF using your browser’s print option. If a statement is missing or late, check your assessment period, your Payments section and your journal before you contact Universal Credit.
Where Can I Find My Universal Credit Statement?
Sign in to your Universal Credit account and select Payments on your home screen. You will see a list of your payment statements and previous UC statements. Choose one to open it. If you cannot sign in, see our Universal Credit login problems guide .
Each statement covers one monthly assessment period. Your first assessment period starts on the date you make your claim and lasts one month. Your circumstances and earnings during the period affect the amount shown ( Understanding Universal Credit ).
Your account also gives you your next payment date, your journal, your to-do list and your claimant commitment ( GOV.UK ).
How Do I Download My Universal Credit Statement?
You can save a statement as a PDF using your browser’s print option:
- Sign in to your Universal Credit account and select Payments.
- Open the statement you need.
- Open your browser menu, or press Ctrl + P on Windows.
- Select Print.
- Choose Save to PDF or Print to PDF.
- Save the file and note where you put it.
Wording differs between browsers and devices. Keep the original PDF unchanged if you need to send it as evidence.
Can I Download My Universal Credit Statement on a Phone?
Try the same steps on your phone and see whether it offers Save to PDF or Print to PDF. If it does not, use a computer where you can. A local library may have one.
Failing that, take screenshots. Take several for a long statement so nothing is missed. This is the approach suggested in CPAG’s guide to getting statements from your online account .
Sending Statements to an Adviser
If the DWP has changed a decision about your award, CPAG says you will see a timeline of changes. Print each statement in that timeline.
Before printing, open the “if you think we’ve made a mistake or want to appeal” text at the bottom of the statement. This lets your adviser see the decisions made.
What Time Does My Universal Credit Statement Show?
We could not find an official time for when statements appear online, so we do not give one. Claims that statements appear at a set hour, including at weekends, are not backed by official guidance.
Your payment date is a better thing to rely on:
- Universal Credit is normally paid 7 days after your assessment period ends.
- If that date falls on a weekend or bank holiday, you are usually paid on the last working day before it.
- Your account shows your next payment date.
This rule is about when you are paid, not when the statement appears. For more, see our Universal Credit payment dates guide .
Universal Credit Statement Not Showing, Missing or Late?
If your UC statement is not showing, or there is no statement on your Universal Credit account, work through these checks:
- Check the dates of your assessment period. The statement you expect may belong to a period that has not ended yet.
- Open Payments and make sure you are looking at the right month.
- Check your journal for messages.
- Think about whether you recently reported a change. Changes can affect your calculation.
- If the statement is still not ready, check again later.
How Long Should I Wait for a Late Statement?
We could not find an official waiting time for a missing statement. If your payment date has passed and you have no statement or payment, send a message to your work coach or case manager through your journal, or call the helpline on 0800 328 5644.
The helpline is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. See our Universal Credit opening times .
Journal replies can take a few days. See our Universal Credit journal guide .
Will I Still Get Paid If My Statement Is Not Showing?
A missing statement does not by itself mean your payment has stopped. Payments are normally made 7 days after your assessment period ends, and your account shows your next payment date.
Check that date rather than relying on the statement.
What Does a Universal Credit Statement Look Like?
Here is an example of what a full Universal Credit statement covers. Layouts vary and not every claimant sees the same items.
| Statement item | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Assessment period | The month used to work out your award. |
| Payment amount and date | How much you are due and when. |
| Earnings | Income counted in that period. If you are paid every four weeks, see our Universal Credit 4 Weekly Pay Problems guide. |
| Allowances and elements | Amounts included for your circumstances. |
| Deductions | Money taken off your payment. |
| Final payment | The amount you are due to receive. |
Deductions are listed under a section called “What we take off”. Read the statement as a whole calculation, not just the final amount.
Can I Use a Universal Credit Statement as Proof of Address?
A statement is evidence of your claim and payments. Whether an organisation accepts it as proof of address is up to them.
Some accept a benefit statement, while others ask for a different document showing your current address. Check their requirements before you send it.
